Summer

Whatever your ideal vacation needs are, you'll find them in the Au Train Recreation area. The whole family can enjoy bird watching, swimming, boating, fishing, camping, water skiing or just relaxing. Au Train Lake and Lake Superior have beautiful sandy beaches. The AuTrain River is one of the most scenic and enjoyable streams in the state for canoeists.

Winter

If you enjoy the refreshing and invigorating outdoor winter snow sports, you'll especially love the Au Train area. There are miles and miles of groomed snowmobile trails, ice fishing on Au Train Lake and Lake Superior...or perhaps you enjoy snow shoeing or cross country skiing through vast wooded areas with the family. Rock River Canyon and Falls are breathtaking with their snow and ice formations and you can reach them by following a well marked trail. 

Spring

The air is fresh and clean, the forests come alive with songs as the birds return from their winter escapes. Woodlands are carpeted with wildflowers and mushrooms peak through the ground. Trout fishing is excellent in the river and numerous streams as well as Lake Superior. Salmon are running too and what a treat to have a fresh Ash dinner! Visit and photograph the many waterfalls in the area that are full from the winters runoff. Bring your own canoe or rent one here, pack a picnic and make a trip down the Au Train River...you may want to go all the way to Lake Superior or stop at one of the take-out places along the way.
